Description

This book is a survey of the impressive amount of recent and ongoing major building projects in China, and there really are a lot. From two vast international airports to new towns and 'city communities' constructed from scratch, 47 projects are described here in outline, all with text and a couple of pages of illustrations, and most with a plan also. You can examine the police headquarters in Shunde ("police and the army are conspicuously present in every street"), OMA's Central Chinese Television (CCTV) headquarters (a "continuously writhing form"), or the planned National Museum in Tiananmen Square. A graphic showcase of a future of endless commerce.
